Allopathic doctors led by Indian Medical Association (IMA) came down on the road on Tuesday against the central government’s decision to sanction surgery to ayurveda doctors. They performed at various places and demanded the withdrawal of the notification from the Center to the doctors of Ayurveda approving the surgery.
The IMA has claimed the solidarity of the doctors of allopathy by performing at about 10,000 places in the country. Demonstrations were also held at five places in Delhi. Some resident doctors of the Institute performed two hours near the main gate of AIIMS in the afternoon. The IMA has announced a one day strike in hospitals across the country on December 11.
The association says that non-essential services in private and government hospitals will be closed on December 11, but treatment and emergency services for Corona patients will not be affected. Routine surgery and OPD will remain closed.
Although the resident doctor’s organizations have not yet announced their involvement in the strike, but they are ideologically with the IMA. This is the reason why resident doctors of many hospitals including AIIMS also participated in the demonstration.
Doctors started demonstrations near the National Medical Commission (NMC) headquarters in Dwarka at seven in the morning but were quickly removed by police. Later from 12 to 2 pm doctors staged a peaceful demonstration near the headquarters of the IMA Gate No. 1 of AIIMS, Nirman Bhawan and Jantar Mantar. Medical students also participated in it.
