Interpol has warned the world’s law enforcement agencies that organized criminal gangs can promote fake vaccines of covid-19 and sell them directly face-to-face or via the Internet.
Interpol warned in an Orange notice issued to all 194 member states on Wednesday that fake vaccines of covid-19 and the flu could be produced, stolen and illegally publicized.
Orange Notice is issued, if a person object or event that poses a serious threat to public safety.
In India, the CBI works in coordination with Interpol. This warning comes at a time when britain has become the first country in the western countries to approve a covid-19 vaccine.
Interpol has asked police organizations to secure the supply chain. Apart from this the international organization has also asked to identify illegal websites that sell fake products.
Interpol Secretary-General Jurgen Stock said in a statement that criminal gangs could target people with fake websites and claims of fake treatment. This can threaten people’s health and their lives. The official said that it is necessary that law and order agencies be prepared for criminal acts related to covid-19 vaccine hence Interpol has issued this warning.
