Aamir Khan discussed about one of the superhit films of his career, ‘Lagaan’, in an interview. Aamir told that director Ashutosh Gowariker had first contacted him for this film, but at that time Aamir had rejected this film.
In an interview, Aamir said, ‘I told Ashutosh that the script is amazing but I don’t have the courage to do it. It is out of the box. I was also worried thinking whether my friend Ashutosh would get a producer for it or not?’
Apart from this, Aamir said, ‘When Ashutosh took this film to many producers after my refusal, some of them asked him to change the climax of the film.
One producer even suggested that at the end of the film, Aamir’s character Bhuvan should be shown stabbing a British officer instead of playing cricket. Ashutosh met many producers and actors over a period of time, but no one fully accepted the script of ‘Lagaan’.
However, after being rejected by many, Aamir finally signed the film himself. He called Ashutosh, sat with his parents and heard the story of the film. During this, Aamir’s parents’ eyes welled up with tears. Aamir not only acted in this film, but also produced it.
