WHO : The World Health Organization finally admitted on Tuesday that there was evidence of corona virus infection ‘spreading through the air’.
Earlier, a group of scientists wrote an open letter to the WHO, urging it to improve its existing guidelines.
“We are talking about the possibility of the corona virus spreading through the air,” said Maria Wa Kerkhov, the technical lead associated with the Kovid-19 pandemic in the WHO.
In this regard, Benedetta Allengranji of the World Health Organization said that there is evidence of corona virus spreading through the air, but this cannot be said with certainty.
He said, “The possibility of spreading the virus through air in public places, especially in crowded, low-wind and closed areas, cannot be ruled out. However, there is a need to collect and understand these evidences. We will continue this work. “
Corona positive mother’s milk does not threaten the child
The World Health Organization’s chief doctor, Tedros Adhamnum Gibriasus, appealed to corona-positive mothers to continue breastfeeding their newborn.
At a press conference held in Geneva, Doctor Tedros said that the World Health Organization has studied this issue and found that the benefits of breastfeeding are greater for the child than the risk of virus infection.
Doctor Tedros said, “We know that there is a lower risk of Kovid-19 in children than older ones, but there are many other diseases that can put children at greater risk and breast feeding can prevent such diseases.” Based on current evidence, the organization suggests that the benefits of breastfeeding outweigh the risks of virus infection. “
He said, “Mothers who are suspected of being infected with corona or who have been confirmed to be infected should be encouraged to feed the baby. If the mother’s health is not really bad, then the newborn should be from the mother Should not be overcome. “
Dr. Anshu Banerjee, consultant for reproductive health affairs at the World Health Organization, said, “We have not been able to detect any live virus in breast milk, breastmilk, until now. There are many cases in which RNA fragments of the virus have been found in breastmilk.” (The corona virus is made up of RNA, a protein molecule) but so far we have not actually found any live virus in Breastmilk. This has not proven the risk of spreading corona infection from mother to child. “
