Sunil Kumar is a government teacher in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. This award was given to him by the Ministry of Education. Sunil is a teacher in Jakhar area government school.
In a conversation with the media, he told that government schools have been in critical condition till some time back. Along with financial problems, backwardness of new technology has also been the main problem.
Sunil Kumar says that he always treated the school as his home and the students as family, the result of this is that today his government school is more developed than private schools. Giving high quality education to students is their first effort.
In 2003, he was appointed as primary school teacher. He said that the school building had completely deteriorated in 2004. Many such struggles had to run in the rented building during this period but due to hard work, the school got its own building in 2010. The school was promoted from primary school to a middle school.
99% of the students in the school were from very poor family. In such a situation, he also kept in touch with the children and the parents of the children. He told the importance of education that he had to fight a hard struggle to bring children to regular school. In 2008, when Sunil Kumar became a permanent teacher, he also contributed to the school facilities from his salary. Presently, this school can definitely be called a smart school, today it has an advanced classroom, suitable arrangements for electricity, water and toilets are available.
