Ritesh Vilasrao Deshmukh is an Indian actor, producer and architect. He has primarily performed in comedy films and has gained massive recognition because of his acting skills.

EARLY LIFE

Ritesh was born on 17 December 1978 in Latur, Maharashtra. He was the second child of the family. Deshmukh is the son of Vaishali and Vilasrao Deshmukh, former chief minister of Maharashtra and minister of heavy industries and public enterprises in India. Amit, his older brother, and Dhiraj, his younger brother, are also politicians. Deshmukh attended G D Somani Memorial School and graduated with a degree in architecture from Mumbai’s Kamla Raheja College of Architecture. He worked as an architect for a foreign company for a year.

CAREER

Alongside Genelia D’Souza, Deshmukh made his Hindi cinema debut in 2003’s romantic comedy Tujhe Meri Kasam. He later made an appearance in Out of Control. His performance in his third movie, the comedic thriller Masti, received negative reviews. Despite everything, the film did well at the box office. After winning two minor awards for his work in Masti, he rose to popularity. His first moderately lucrative starring role was in Tusshar Kapoor’s critically panned sex comedy Kyaa Kool Hai Hum. Although the movie received negative reviews from critics, people liked it, and it was deemed a modest success at the box office. Through his humorous performances, Deshmukh established a solid base in the Bollywood film business. He appeared in the 2016 musical drama Banjo and the third instalment of the Housefull and Masti series. He appeared in the third instalment of Dhamaal, Total Dhamaal, which was released in 2019. Despite mixed reviews, it was a commercial success. He made appearances in two other films that year, Housefull 4 and Marjaavaan (as a villain after Ek Villain). Both garnered mixed reviews but did well at the box office. His biggest hit to date was Housefull 4 and Marjaavaan, which received praise for his performance. In 2020 he also did “Baaghi 3.”

PERSONAL LIFE

On 3 February 2012, he married movie star Genelia D’Souza in a traditional Marathi wedding. They have two sons, Riaan Deshmukh and Rahyl Deshmukh. In 2013, Deshmukh established his own production company, Mumbai Film Company, by working on the multi-award-winning Marathi movie Balak Palak. In the Celebrity Cricket League in 2013, he brought a cricket team alongside Dhiraj Deshmukh that was afterwards known as Veer Marathi. He represented his side in this league while playing.
