Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for rural drinking water supply projects in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra in Uttar Pradesh under the Jaljeevan Mission. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for these projects through video conferencing. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present during this period. In his address, the Prime Minister said that under this scheme, lakhs of families will get pure drinking water from drains.He said that due to the resources available in Sonbhadra and Mirzapur, people are attracted towards this area. Targeting the Congress during this time, the Prime Minister said that schemes are not decided in Delhi as before. He said that the region has been a victim of neglect till decades after independence. The Prime Minister said that the life of our mothers and sisters is getting easier due to water reaching from house to pipe.A major benefit of this has also been to the health of poor families. It is also reducing many diseases like cholera, typhoid, encephalitis caused by dirty water.
Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of drinking water supply projects in Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, ‘In 70 years, drinking water supply projects could be regulated in only 398 villages of Vindhya region. Today we are in more than 3,000 villages of the region to pursue such projects. ‘
