Two-wheeler accidents account for most of the deaths due to not wearing helmets. The Kolkata Police has decided to re-introduce the ‘no helmet, not petrol’ system for not giving petrol at petrol pumps to motorcycle riders who are not wearing helmets. An official gave information about this.
The official said “No helmet, no petrol rules will be applicable from December 8 and will continue for the next 60 days”.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma said in an order issued on Friday that on several occasions it was found that people driving or riding on two-wheelers do not wear helmets and violations of the rules have increased on many levels.
